Because you have a student at MacLaren, you are a member of the Parent Service Association (PSA). Helping the school carry out its many activities is the mission of the PSA. All this service is overseen by the Executive Director, working through liaisons to the PSA committees. The PSA may have several standing committees to take care of these many needs.
While we as a school do not have mandatory volunteer hours, every parent is expected to be involved in the life of the school. As a MacLaren parent, you have the opportunity to serve in many ways; the following are some of the many ways parents can be involved at MacLaren:
- Help with Traffic Duty in the morning or afternoon
- Help run an after school club
- Monitor during lunchtime recess
- Bring in treats for faculty and staff birthdays
- Use Safeway gift cards and King Soopers loyalty cards to earn 5% rebate back to the school
- Help organize events such as the Used Uniform Sale and the 6th Grade Pool Party
- Be a Lower School Grade Level Host
- Organize and cook for the Faculty/Staff Appreciation events
Most volunteering opportunities require a background check. Please check out the latest information regarding the application process on the Volunteer Information page on the website. The approval process can take several weeks and so we encourage parents to submit their application as soon as possible so they will be ready to volunteer as opportunities become available.
The following volunteer opportunities do not require a background check. Please contact the parent coordinator listed to learn more about these projects.
- Birthday Brigade: Bring in a sweet or savory treat for one of the faculty or staff on their special day. Questions? Contact Purvi Sittner.
- Stuff the Lounge: Bring in drinks and/or snacks on a monthly basis for faculty and staff to grab on the go. Questions? Contact Purvi Sittner.
- Half & Half and Creamer: Pick a week to bring in creamer and half and half for the many coffee and tea drinkers on the faculty and staff. Questions? Contact Purvi Sittner.
